Franz Nauts
My Dutch brother-in-Law, Frans Nauts, sadly died, far too young, due to a brain tumour. But in the brief time I knew him I grew very fond of him, he was a lovely man, very gentle and very talented.
When he wasn't painting he'd be out on the streets of Venlo with his hand cart Waffle maker selling hot waffles.
One time, when we were visiting, we had our children with us so this is around 30 years ago.
He asked Julia and Johanna what they would him to paint for them.
Julia chose a horse, Johanna a bee. These are the main blip. He knocked these up in about five minutes each, or less.
The Extra is a typical Holland scene, Venlo is on the River Maas, and I really like this painting. We have another, in the living room, of Florence which he painted from a picture postcard. It hangs where the crib goes at Christmas.
Just nipped downstairs and took a photo of it, another Extra. Just ignore the reflection of one of the ceiling lights!
He never became famous but his paintings did sell well locally.
P.S. Edit Note - Just noticed he put the date on the Horse and Bee paintings, September 1992 so that makes it just over 32 years ago.
Also noticed, on the Horse and Bee, he signed them Uncle Frans, rather than F Frans.
