Birds galore
Another full day of birdwatching, quite exhausting after a poor sleep last night. Today we drove for about hour to some farmland to see Eurasian Thick-knees, a nice looking bird but impossible for me to get a photo of. Then a little bit further to la Reserva Natural, Laguna de Fuente de Piedra where we spent the rest of the day. Bright skies but a cold wind. Here we ticked off another huge number of birds from the list. My favourite without doubt was the White-headed duck, a curious bird with a sticky up tail and a bright blue beak, just gorgeous, but again no clear photos.
My main is of common cranes on the water, first extra two Gadwall and second extra a teeny Serin, all of which I’ve not had the chance to photograph before.
It’s almost 7.30pm so after an hour in our room it’s off to reconvene to go over all of the many species spotted today then dinner and bed!
