Magpie Visits

I have become that person who finds it hard to hear what people who talk quickly on the phone have to say. I was phoned by John Lewis this morning in their effort to give  me a rebate on my washing machine installation cost. It costs more to install if it is hard wired with no existing wall plug. Because I didn’t know when I bought it in the shop how it was wired, I paid the extra and then discovered there was a wall plug , hence the rebate. However the lady at the end of the phone spoke very quickly and in an accent which took me some deciphering to understand. It was a regional accent I think but I had to keep asking her to repeat herself. I found it all a bit fraught.

It was another damp dreich day so that when my cousin’s daughter,  blipper Magpie, phoned to say she would pop in this afternoon as she was on holiday, I put the crackling log fire on YouTube and the Central heating on too. Never let it be said that I don’t know how to show a girl a warm house and a good time. We had a fine old two hours catching up on the distaff side of our family while we overdosed on custard cream biscuits and Orkney shortbread.

I’m not sure what went wrong with my photographic abilities this afternoon but most of the blips of Magpie were fuzzy save for this one. It certainly doesn’t do justice to the sitter or the surroundings
