Monkey and monument
Another cold start to the day, though not frosty up here. Put my gardening clothes on intending to spend some time outside, but after twenty minutes my hands were frozen so I gave up. Came in to replace the cupboard door knobs - my Homebase bargain - but found that the screws were too short to go through the door. Some bargain! I then did a bit of research into poems for our next u3a Poetry Group meeting, for which the theme is 'Gardens'.
After lunch I walked down town and Blipped this teenage monkey puzzle tree, with, of course, the Hutchison Monument in the background! There were three mature monkeys in the town, but they've all been felled since we arrived. The sound of chainsaws is very common here - everything has to be chopped!
I popped in to Highland Fasteners, a shop which will be doing well after the demise of Homebase! One of those good shops which sells screws and bolts individually and not in packs of 50, so I bought a few replacement bolts for the door knobs which should do the trick.
Quote of the Day: 'And some can pot begonias and some can bud a rose,
And some are hardly fit to trust with anything that grows.' - Rudyard Kipling (The Glory of the Garden).
