Stairs #5: The Monument steps
The weather was better today so I went to the Monument to the Great Fire of London which was once the highest structure in the city. It’s a doric column so the steps go up in a very tight spiral. There are 311 steps from ground level (345 from the basement). It’s 61 metres in height and was completed in 1677. It stands at the north end of London Bridge, within a short walk to Pudding Lane where the fire began. In extras:
1. view looking up
2. view of the column
3. the city from the viewing platform.
My last of the "stair" photos. Thank you to everyone for checking them out.
