Cracking Sunset
Emboldened by recent explorations on the ice, I went a bit further out onto the lake. I could see down about a foot I think into the clear ice now there's no snow covering it.
The structures visible were quite incredible, but difficult to photograph. Although cracks are evident in this image, the ice had frozen hard again and the face of the crack going down into the ice could be seen as a white wall.
Elsewhere, there were columns of bubbles and frozen vegetation in the ice layer and below.
