Female Hazel Flowers
The red styles of the female flowers on a hazel tree. Corylus avellana. I only had my phone for a close up so it's not marvellous but I love the scarlet flowers. The male catkins are well advanced.
We had a walk at Cambus Pools today. It's a small wetland and reedbed nature reserve between Stirling and Alloa. It's interesting but not beautiful. The River Devon flows into the Forth here and there's lots of waterfowl but nothing of much interest today. I saw some deer but they saw me too and were off. There's an enormous whisky bond at Cambus and the angels' share was noticeable. Very pleasant. A really muddy walk and good to get some fresh air.
