It's Been A While...

I started making a piece on the lathe this morning.
Hopefully it will end up as a dish and not just wood shavings.
It is a piece of Elm from some I cut off a fallen tree near Ratho. It took me 2 days to cut a couple of slices off that tree as I didn't have a chainsaw at the time so I was having to use a hand saw. I thought I was going to end up with one arm that would look like Popeye's but be totally useless. Shortly after that I bought my chainsaw .... that was in 1997 - and this piece of wood has been sitting in the garage since then.

After lunch we went for a (chilly) walk and stopped off at Bags' half way round.
I had a look at the glass cooker top which shattered whilst The Cygnet was cooking last night. The poor lad must have nearly soiled himself! 

Magpies are not my favourite birds, but their feathers usually make a half decent picture ... but I haven't taken a picture of one for a while.
Other pictures taken are Here. The blurred trees were deliberate - not caused by slipping and sliding on the muddy path.
I had hope to be able to put up a picture of a Wren that was jumping about the pond when we got home .... but I failed - miserably! they were all blurred. I was NOT happy.
