ODD Timeline?
I've been In The Shed. I still have a fair number of, to say the least elderly, Books salvaged from home which I'm slowly either recycling or taking to abloke who sells second hand Books.
This last lot were, almost exclusively, Fire related; this one creating the odd problem; to be seen later.
Since Dad had been in BOTH the AFS & the NFS I thought I'd better check them out.
"The Auxiliary Fire Service was first formed in 1938 in Great Britain as part of the Civil Defence Service. Its role was to supplement the work of brigades at local level.
The Auxiliary Fire Service and the local brigades were superseded in August 1941 by the National Fire Service."
Here comes the timeline. The introduction is dated pre-WW ll and yet - inside the cover we find "WAR ORGANISATION MEMORANDA". and inside we see a cutaway of an incendiary bomb.
I've been unable to ask Dad since 5th Jan 1984 so can't check my suspicion(s) The Drill Book, with Intro predates the War but was modified to include the War without an alteration to the Intro.
