Sunny Älandsbro
Today I was helping Lonny sort out his new, but second hand, Macbook. We fixed a problem with the clock, sorted out his e-mail and talked a lot about his music. For Lonny music is important and he has over 60 GB of music on his old computer. There is room for it all on the new Mac but there wouldn't be much space left on the hard disc! I suggested moving over a selection, discarding any obvious rubbish, and storing the rest on an external hard disc. We shall see if that idea goes anywhere!
Lonny (and Karin) live about an hour's drive north of us. He travelled down to us on the bus and I drove down to Älandsbro to pick him up from the bus stop and then returned him to the same place later in the day so he could get the bus home again. Today's blip is taken from just by the bus stop.
Often my photos are forest, sea, lakes, red painted houses in the countryside etc. However, an awful lot of Swedes live in places like this. Low rise apartment blocks with a bit of space around and somewhere to park the car. You don't have to worry about snow-clearing if you live like this! It's not our choice of accommodation but I can also see the attraction. The apartments are warm, comfortable and well-maintained, if a little sterile. Yesterday's blip, taken in town from the restaurant showed the apartments above the shops, similarly comfortable.
Once Lonny had gone I packed my clothes etc for a trip north starting tomorrow. First to Umeå, about three hours away, and then after a weekend of Tai Chi we'll drive another two hours north to Skellefteå to visit Claire for a couple of days. So here's hoping for a week of reasonable weather!
