Jack's birthday

42 today... 'the meaning of life', as Richard commented. We both wondered if J would get the reference, as we don't think he's read The HItchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. He did, though only because someone at work had already cracked the joke. Grainy photo (I messed up the ISO and got it very underexposed, so had to do a lot of noise reduction). Maybe it all adds to the sense of atmosphere :-)
Richard and I made some tapas dishes, Ruth and Josh brought ice cream and Marianna baked the lemon and courgette cake that Jack wanted. She did this one-handed after school and nursery pick-up, as Simone was in a frame of mind to cling to her mum... possibly because Marianna had to be away for work for two days earlier in the week.  I feel for Marianna, who is feeling very torn at the moment between work commitments and time with Simone and Frieda. Fortunately half-term is on the horizon and they'll all get some time off together.
