Studley Royal

We have visited Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal today to enjoy the Snowdrops. They were everywhere in abundance but not in today’s blip. This is taken from the Temple of Piety and shows the beautiful curvy water features alongside the River Skell in the Studley Royal parkland below the magnificent Abbey. Perfect I thought for the theme for Wide Wednesday today.
We were here almost exactly one year ago and my blip then did show the classic shot of the Abbey with some of the wonderful snowdrops on the river bank, not the first time I’ve blipped it.
(It was in the shade when we arrived so we walked the circuit the other way and it is a bit tricky getting a good picture on the sloping ground here.)

We had a coffee on arrival when the cafe was very quiet. Busier by lunchtime but we found a seat, disappointed that the soup was Parsnip and Apple, Chris won’t eat parsnip in any form, but we had a delicious cheese scone each.
A great morning out.

Extra on the blip year last shows the Temple of Piety from the other side of the river and the Octagon Tower above. Also a Little Grebe on the water. There were some there today together with the usual water fowl but the most frequently seen bird today were Pheasants, they were everywhere.
