Ancient tree

This Sweet Chestnut tree is centuries old, and maintains pride of place in the gardens at Bishton Hall.

Never heard of it…..no accident….. this stately home is a well kept secret not too far from Shugborough or the Wolseley Centre. 

I first visited, and blipped, on May 5th last year. You can see the tree in full leaf.

It’s the home of Hansons Auctioneers and the gardens are lovingly tended.  I had it all to myself this morning as I wandered along the woodland path, and sat a while in the classical pavilion.

And ended up with a hot chocolate and Carrot cake, as you do.

We have to make the most of our sunny hours between the mists and downpours.
