Discombobulation and education

Day 2 of sanding and sealing the wooden floors.  Today everything was piled up in the lounge so that the floors of dining room and entry hall could be treated. Both Harry and Rufus are disturbed by the disruption and change to normal routine. Harry, (my poor puddytat) is so discombobulated that he spent much of the day inside my bedroom wardrobe.

With the lounge turned in to a furniture depot, all the contents of the dining room furniture occupying every kitchen surface, and the hallway cupboard blocking the oven, it was day 2 of Asda sandwiches for lunch and microwave meal for dinner, and an evening upstairs - mostly craft room with Audible. The hour from 6pm was filled watching a lecture on Zoom organized by the group Art and Culture - Level entitled "Weird and wonderful symbols in the Arts".  An interesting presentation - mostly about Renaissance art, including the information that as well as the familiar circular halos for angels and saints, triangular halos were used for God (the Holy Trinity) and square halos used for the living. The word 'sinister' is derived from the Italian 'sinistra' meaning 'left' - which is where woman are usually positioned in couples portraits of the period ....

Mostly, this lecture ignited an interest in going to the National again (haven't been for years) to see a couple of the paintings discussed, especially 'The Assumption of the Virgin' - Francesco Botticini c. 1475-6
