If you can't beat them...

Blue Tit

For a couple of years or so I have had a camera in a nest box.  Blue Tits must be rather shy as the best there has been was the winter before last one roosted in there most of the winter.

Today I noticed a wisp of grass poking out of the entrance hole.  An attempt at at nesting (well I think it was an attempt) late last season put some moss and grass on the bottom of the box.  However grass is unable to climb up to get out on its own.  So I checked the recordings on my phone and there had been birds in the box.  The first was in for 20 seconds, presumably the male.  A second entered and the first left.  The second (female?) was in for just under three minutes.  During that time she examined all parts of the box and even went through the motions of nest shaping.

The blip is a still from the video.
