Portrait of a Sunday

As I sat writing my blip this morning - complete with the usual brew and Classic FM combo - I was delighted to hear the tones of Ludovico Einaudi coming over the airwaves.

Not only does he have a beautiful new album out; The Summer Portraits, but he will also be appearing at The Co-Op Live later this year. I am sorely tempted to get myself a ticket.

It was a lovely start to a rather lovely day as we came-to slowly and then joined the Westies (my sister’s family) on a jaunt round to the local Model Train Exhibition, which was fantastic! The amount of time and attention to detail that these people devote to their craft is phenomenal. All of us enjoyed picking out little details, like tiny fishermen in the river and seagulls circling overhead. I’ve plumped for this cliff-top scene as my favourite, but the one in extra with the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and dinosaur at the station ran it a close second.

Following the show everyone came back to ours for lunch and we all just hung out for a couple of hours, which was fantastic too - we even got a chance to talk, which is no mean feat in a house of four excited children!

They left mid-afternoon and for the remainder of the day, we had a very relaxing afternoon of watching some football, crafting and video-gaming respectively before I attempted another new tea (to me); cordon bleu chicken - it may have ended up more sacre bleu chicken, but we all ate it and survived the ordeal.

Cracking weekend!
