Out Out, again!
The first of February - White rabbit.
Today was a rather satisfying day. I discovered yesterday that for £7 I could buy a small adapter/ card reader which would allow me to take pictures on my camera and transfer them to my phone or iPad and thus upload them. It means I'll be able (hopefully) to take better pictures in India and upload them to send home or blip. It arrived next day delivery and I tried it today - it was so simple. I wish I'd thought to look for one years ago . My camera is going to have a much more active time now I can get the pictures off easily
I started the day relatively slowly then moved into final sort out the house mode for our guests tonight. I needed to go to a certain shop about 20 minutes drive away so hopped in the car and headed off. I'd completely forgotten about the rugby, so I ground to a halt about 2 minutes later as I'd chosen to drive over Ravelston Dykes, which heads straight for Murrayfield. After we minutes of going nowhere, I managed to alert the driver behind me that I was about to do an odd manoeuvre (!) and quickly did a u-turn and headed for an out of town branch, still busy but manageable.
When I got back Colin had finished the hoovering and was watching the match. I then spent some time looking at some bits to carve out of our website and make it more about the congregation we are rather than about our previous Rector and his slightly higher church approach. A couple of us are meeting after church about it, I just wish I'd noticed months ago that it wasn't really about us.
Talking about church, the first Rectory kitchen quote came in and it's manageable so that's good.
After our friends arrived we headed in a taxi to Canopy where we had a delicious early dinner. My only disappointment was with their very well priced two or three course menu. There are only 3 main course options to choose from, one fish, one veg and one chicken, we were there at 5.45 and the chicken had run out. They serve the same menu, plus a brunch one, all day, so perhaps the rugby had had an impact. I chose fish and chips from the main menu instead as I'm not a fan of bream.
Next it was off to the Queen's Hall and Fairport Convention. Katy had bought tickets for Colin for Christmas. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening, not least the tee shirt that Dave Pegg was wearing -it made me smile - Nights in with Statins! That's what comes with going to see bands where the young members are in their 70s. One of the other members was wearing a faded Grateful Dead t-shirt! Shades of the 70's there too.
Getting home from the Queens Hall is very easy as we have a door to door bus service. We were in just after 11, so I headed straight for bed after instructing the early risers about breakfast. A good day
