Celtic Connections day 1 of 4

It was quite nice being able to have my breakfast in pjs this morning as normally I pull on my clothes to take Phin out and he’s away at his daycare!

In between getting dressed and packing my bag for the next few days, I sorted out the washing and got some jeans washed before we left to head into the bus station,

A reasonably speedy journey into Glasgow Buchanan st bus station with the only drama being Mr PHL bashing his head off the roof skylights not once but twice. Can’t see any cuts but time will tell. His choice to sit upstairs and I think he rather regretted it!

Walked to the hotel to meet up with our friends Stuart and Linda and once checked in and organised we headed to the Merchants house to enjoy our first experience of the weekend, an immersive sounds and light show featuring Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. It felt a little strange lying on the bean bags provided but they were a comfy way to enjoy the show.

A quick walk to the Drygate brewery for dinner which was tasty but a rather wetter experience than previous visits as the server managed to spill two pints of beer down my arm and over my leg as well as drenching the table and surrounding floor area! I dried reasonably quickly fortunately.

Walked upstairs to see our first Celtic connections act, a solo artist called Taylor Ashton. He was followed by a country ish set by the Cactus Blossoms. Two sets of brothers and a cousin from the sane extended family. Fab music.

A short interlude in the bar before Late night sessions. These are great as you see several acts in the 3 hour slot for a bargain £11 a head. Tonight’s offering didn’t disappoint and it was 4 weary concert goers who headed back to the hotel just after 2am.

Thanks to Ingeborg for hosting AbstractThursday.
