January closed out with great success today.

Despite my grumbles about work, results-wise it has been a good one and the team of which I am a part are doing well.

Far more importantly than that, I met Debs for a hot chocolate catch up at lunchtime and bumped into a couple of other friends whilst we were there. I think I’m definitely getting older, as when I saw my friend’s son for the first time in a little while, I heard the words “Ooooh, hasn’t he grown?” escape from my mouth.

Fortunately, I was able to stop myself short of any cheek pulling…

A nice quiet afternoon followed and before very much longer the wee ones were home and we all had a good catch up and discussed our weekend plans. Then it was up to my sister’s place for Pizza Friday (actually a delicious lasagne) for a catch up with the wider family.

I haven’t mentioned him in a while, but my Dad is doing well and the doctors seem to be making some good progress towards a firm diagnosis, which is all good news too and it’s nice to see him back to something like approaching his old self.

Because I didn’t see the family on my birthday, my sister delivered me of my present (a Rusty Robot identical to the one I had reluctantly given away to my mother at Christmas - extra) and also a birthday “cake”, which to mine untrained eye looked suspiciously like one of the Asda cookies I had brought up with me that very eve…

Lovely way to start the weekend and hope everyone has a good one!
