Ruins on the hill
A good day today with plenty of sunshine. I was stuck inside this morning to finish off the two Photo Club competitions. I was going to say that I'll be allowed some time off now, but as I write an email has just come in with pictures for the next and final competition of the season, from a member who's currently visiting family in the USA. Never a dull moment.
After lunch I made myself go out for a walk - just a quick one as I really couldn't be bothered. I walked up to the Hydro, the ruins of the Hydropathic Hotel, correctly known as the Oban Hills Hydropathic Sanatorium. It sits on the hill above the town and I took several pictures, one of which is my Blip today. The hotel was begun in 1881 but never completed due to financial difficulties and a lot of the stone was later pillaged for other building projects around the town. I carried on to the viewpoint which overlooks the town and was just in time to watch the ‘Isle of Mull’ setting off to who knows where - my extra today.
On the way back I called in to see friends and spent an hour chattering, so arrived home as the sun was setting - it would have looked good from the Hydro!
