Another Microsoft update snafu

Got into the office, i.e., the spare bedroom, and decided to start work on the book. First thing to do was to listen to a documentary about life in Buchenwald, which I had downloaded and needed for a bit of research info. The mandatory update that Microsoft had made me install before I could access my computer had once again screwed up the sound card. This meant – and still means – that I have no sound on my laptop. Cue two hours research to find out how to remedy this. Nothing works. So, I have to sit and fume, while the complete dickheads at Microsoft try and work out a fix.

Whatever happened to buying a computer, buying the operating system that works on it, and then simply replacing both when your computer died? I don’t want these bloody meaningless updates. All I want to do is have a system that works, which is reliable, and which doesn’t crash my computer every time it forces a new, unwanted, unnecessary product on me. Arses.

This screwed up my day. To add to the annoyance, I got a request from the government to apply for an editorial and translation contract. The forms will take a day to fill out. Then there is the interminable wait, and then there is no guarantee of the job coming through. Rich, I know, when I am complaining about a lack of work…

Read about the horrible airline crash in Washington – and then saw, without meaning to, the video of it happening. How can that situation actually occur? Of course, the Orange Turd is straight away making an arse of himself by saying it was down to DEI. It’s not right that I should have so much anger inside me, I’m normally such a placid person. This year seems to have been one long succession of things going wrong.

Anyway, tomorrow is another day. But not having sound on the laptop really is a bit of a pisser…
