Car trouble
I had to take my car to the garage this morning as the alarm kept going off whenever I locked it with the remote controller! I had had to resort to using the emergency mechanical key.
This afternoon we went into town, in the rain, to carry out a few errands, and in the expectation that I would then walk on to the garage to collect my car. However it had proved a more difficult problem to resolve than anticipated, and the car needs to stay there for another day.
Meanwhile, I was delighted to discover this Dinky toy car in an old chocolate box in our garage. It had been forgotten about in the loft until Martin's recent sort out. He didn't realise its significance to me.
In 1968, my parents bought a wedgewood blue Triumph 1300 car ( using a small legacy from my grandma). It was my Dad's pride and joy, as he'd not had a brand new car before It was very luxurious with dark blue ventilated PVC upholstery and a dashboard on a polished walnut fascia. We bought him this Dinky model for his birthday ( which we subsequently played with, hence its poor condition!). Later, my mum became the real car's main driver, when it became known as the "Dorismobile " and all three of us girls learned to drive in it. Sadly, eventually, it rusted badly and had to be scrapped, but not before it had seen many adventures! At least the model still lives on. I must take it to show my Mum when I visit her next.
