This is the day

Great Expectations

I often have great expectations of what I want to achieve in any particular day, but it’s not unusual for events to conspire against me.

Today was a case in point. It has been an enjoyable and productive day, but it has to be said that ‘knitting a headband for a plush toy shaped like a mug of hot chocolate’ was not, strangely enough, on my to do list for today.

It came about because we had a visit after school from our daughter-in-law and two youngest granddaughters. They’d come to collect an A3 poster which Granny had printed off to assist seven year old L with her school project. Five year old H had brought her plush toy with her, and wondered if Granny could knit something for it. A narrow scarf being the simplest solution, Granny duly found some wool in the requested colour (purple) and knitted the headband while the girls were being given their tea by chef Grandpa.

H was delighted that the scarf was completed so quickly, and her sister then asked if Granny could knit a jumper for her Maileg rabbit. Granny said she didn’t have a pattern (and had to explain to a puzzled little girl that a pattern is the instructions you need to follow to knit something) and promised to acquire one. So that’s another item to add to tomorrow’s to do list.
