Forgotten Fires

In the evening sun,
Scarlet flowers glow like embers,
In forgotten fires.

That perfect moment, when the sun slants low enough across the border to highlight the petals lighting them up against the fresh green of the leaves.

The plant is Crocosmia Lucifer - a favourite of mine. It likes the spot it's in and is reliably huge and dramatic every year with very little intervention from me. That's my kind of plant!

There was a huge thunderstorm in the night, I tried to photograph the lightening but failed miserably, I think I know where I went wrong though so next time .......
