Hellebore

A day much like yesterday! A walk this morning into and around Mote Park in the fading sunshine. It promised rain later but as yet, none has appeared.

We did our own stuff this afternoon. Susan was sorting photo albums in the studio while after a bit of admin I made a second batch of sauerkraut, this time with red cabbage, going on to make a batch of coleslaw. Just tried the first batch of sauerkraut and it was excellent.

Hellebore flowers are a challenge to photograph when at ground level. They’re demure flowers bowing their heads. Some agility was required to get beneath the flowers as well as keeping the backlight to a minimum.

Thanks for the suggestions for yesterday’s fungus. Consensus seems to be a hoof fungus or a horseshoe fungus. Terry Pratchett’s observation about fungi, as told by Campervan made me laugh: “all fungi are edible, some only once”
