Wide Wednesday - Monochrome

A beautiful blue-sky day - see the original extra - for a long walk along the canal this afternoon. There is still a lot of storm debris cluttering the path, including a couple of trees that have to be either clambered over or around.

This morning Anne and Christina came for coffee and catch-up. It was our first get-together since Anne's elder daughter Jackie died a few weeks ago of a brain tumour, so it was an emotional morning.

Jackie was the subject of her younger sister Jenny's portrait in the final of the most recent Portrait Artist of the Year, and was herself a talented artist whose exhibition I blipped about last May. Her husband Gerard died of cancer a few years ago and she leaves behind two young children.
