Everyday Life

Every Day I'm Shovelling

We took a short drive out to Whisby Nature Reserve today - first time we have visited there in a while. It gives you a good walk around several lakes, and there is a wide variety of birdlife to see too. We saw a great white egret, many cormorants, these shoveler ducks, Canada geese, tufted ducks and several species of garden bird.

The sun shone and so long as you were out of the chilly breeze it felt like a Spring day - perfect for a longish walk! We'd go to Whisby more often if they didn't charge £2 to park your car! (It is not possible to get there without driving!) In Spring/Summer it goes up to £3. I imagine they use it for the upkeep of the reserve and its visitor centre, which has toilets, a gift shop, café/bistro and a kids' soft-play centre.
