In the dark (room)

Morning off work to go down to Chula Vista for my biometrics appointment for my green card. Closest to the border I have been since I have been here. Arrived half and hour before my appointment and only had to wait an hour before being seen. The security guard changed the TV from the normal public service broadcast to America's funniest home videos to keep the kids waiting entertained. Passed the time for me too as no mobile phones allowed. Everyone was very pleasant which is nice as government officials have a reputation for being knobs.

Back home by midday then straight to work. Today's blip is taken in the dark room which is only illuminated with red light as we use auto radiographic film that is light sensitive.

Turns out my undergrad student worked out another error in making the buffers we made yesterday and corrected it herself when I was away. Maybe she won't be too much of a burden after all!

My friends from Philly arrived this evening after driving from Las Vegas. We tried to go out in old town for some Mexican food, but it was almost 8pm on a Friday so no parking spaces to be found. So we came back to UTC to go to the less authentic cozymels at the mall.

Then to the train station to pick the wife up. Train was delayed and the Amtrak app said it was running 10 min late, 20 min after it was meant to arrive.

Off whale watching tomorrow and paddle boarding Sunday. Before it all starts again.....
