Gratitude and Grace
At South Beach (my name for it), south of Avenida Cesar Chavez Bridge, 2:30 in the afternoon. I came upon a community of sandhill cranes. They stood on a sandy island in the center of the Rio Grande; I sat on the the sandy river bank just south.
They: a flock of fifty and more, standing when I first arrived. Me: playing my recorder, hoping to soothe....soon they settled down and sat to listen, as did I.
How I love the ancient, gruff, gravelly, guttural call of the cranes.
I had planned to write a bit regarding the practice of Vows, which I did write about in my book/daily journal, but I have decided enough text for now. Those words will live to see another day.
~ Goose, Goose, Crane...a new take on an old children's game (Duck, Duck, Geese).
