Split Rock

A good day for working outside although it clouded over and became more breezy in the afternoon. Nick continued with his hedge laying and I helped by disposing of the trimmings.
I came across this boulder while walking Bertie. It is one that we pass most days but today I noticed that it looked rather different. In all the time I’ve known it there has been a thin tree growing from the crack which was just a few inches wide but today it was obvious that the crack had grown considerably wider. I can only surmise that the small tree was buffeted so much by the storm that it forced the two parts of the rock apart. Quite amazing!
