Last night blues

I was going to blip a sunset as a sort of farewell tonight, and indeed there has been a reasonable one. But it was nothing to write home about.

Instead, I give you exercises in dinosaur teeth, constructed with a crab claw and a rock on the beach at Sandvoe. Sandvoe is pretty much as far north as you can get on 'mainland' Shetland, and we went up there when the weather improved dramatically this afternoon. We had thunder and lightening (not terribly frightening this time) at 2pm and clear blue skies at 3pm. I really don't know what to make of these weather patterns, but the clear skies and sunshine and indeed high temperatures had been forecast on the Met Office weather app. We just weren't sure whether to believe them or not.

We poked around on the beach for a while, and also drove along the side of Ronas Voe, which is one of the most dramatically beautiful and hard to photograph places on the island, and then returned to sit outside the pub for a farewell drink in blazing sunshine.

Tomorrow morning is slated to be good too, so we've set an early alarm and let's see what it might bring by way of photo opportunities. But that's it. By tomorrow evening we will be on the boat home. There's still a fair bit of digital housekeeping to catch up on, photos to put on flickr, etc. I will update the links to the albums when that's done.
