Star

We went to an afternoon concert at the Usher Hall with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, where the star of the show was undoubtedly Vaughan Williams' Symphony No. 4. I was, however, also quite impressed with the Mozart Piano Concerto No. 24, which was conducted from the piano by Ryan Wigglesworth (making you realise how much of conducting is in the eyes not the hands), and Mr A enjoyed the Britten Suite on English Folk Tunes – ‘A time there was…’ Overall, a lovely afternoon out, which we crowned with dinner at Chaophraya, which is a bit noisy for us. The food was good (especially with a January reduction), but the vibe was not great for us. We might have been better off getting a bus or a tram back to Leith straight after the concert, although it's always interesting to be out in the centre of the city a little later than I often am.
