Robert Reviews: The Running Man
My goodness I remember this! And I promise not to mention the C******o movie.
I remember reading the story first, by Stephen King writing as Richard Bachman. It was a very good story with a fantastic ending, and at first I was pleased that it was getting made into a movie, then disappointed that the movie would star Arnie! Not that I wasn't an Arnie fan, but I knew they'd have to change the book considerably to make it into a movie.
And they did.
But somehow, against the odds, Arnie pulled it off (the movie as well as the bench Gemma referred to)! The gleefully gory ways of despatching the stalkers, the audience participation at the gameshow, the one-liners, Maria Conchita Alonso, and the great job done by the chappie who played Killian (to Arnie's "I'll be back" he replies "Only in a re-run"!) compensate for the terrible 80s dancers, the whole set design, and Mick Fleetwood.
Not as good as aarrrrrgh the movie I can't mention but great fun anyway. I wish I'd seen it when it was on!
ObQu - after cutting a stalker in half, "He had to split!!"
