"the fish"

I flew home last night for a week long holiday at home! It's going to be a hectic week but it will be great to be home!

Not even 24hrs back on home soil and I found myself at my first 12th parade of the summer. Needless to say coming from N.Ireland, readers of this blip may now begin to stereotype me as a rioting Protestant who causes mayhem on the streets of Belfast at this time of year. Not quite....coming from Fermanagh we have quiet and peaceful parades and I have grown up knowing the 12th July parade to be nothing other than a peaceful family day out.

The main parade isn't until Friday so today's was a warm up in a little border town called Rossnowlaugh - often referred to as the beach 12th as orangemen are known to go for a paddle and enjoy an ice-cream on the beach before they parade back. We hadn't been to Rossnowlaugh in ages! It was good to be back!

In the evening, I went fishing with my uncle and 2 younger cousins. Yes, you heard me correctly - fishing! John and David have a license and often go fishing up at Trory jetty in the evenings so I decided to join them tonight and we caught this little fella! Don't worry, we threw him back in so he lived to swim another day! I started teasing my cousin David when we were at Trory because his voice is starting to break so it's going really low at times - I know it's not fair but it does make me giggle! :)

There is something about having grown up beside the waters of Lough Erne that always pulls me back. I love being beside the lakes - they have a calming influence on me. I relax, I breathe slower, I'm home!!!!!!
