Early morning magpies

We're having a run of hot days, with max temperatures in the mid-30s. So my daily walk is usually early, before breakfast. Today, a trio of magpies fluted at me as I went past. 

The Australian Magpie was so named by colonial settlers for its resemblance to the European Magpie. They are, however, not closely related.
