Hardy and versatile ...
... is one assessment of the Coast Banksia (B. integrifolia) as a garden plant. This one grows in our village garden in Tarragindi, a suburb of Brisbane. The plant grows along the SE coast of Australia, from a little north of Brisbane to around Melbourne. It's one of the 5 species of Banksia collected by Joseph Banks in 1770 and subsequently named in his honour by the Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus - a piece of botanical trivia that I've probably mentioned before!
