Baby Bouquetin (ibex) and its Guardian Chough.

Today was one of those special days, clear as a bell and just enough wind to keep you cool. I set off on a pilgrimage to the Dent d'Oche, a mountain just over the border in France where you are almost guaranteed to see bouquetins/ibex. I had not reckoned on the numbers of people going to be there because of August 1st yesterday. The bouquetin had all left or so it seemed. But near the summit I could smell that pungent odour of bouquetin poo! This little fellow seemed to have been left behind, all alone on the ridge and this chough seemed to be shepherding him, very strange.

Large is cuter of course.

Mont Blanc was in particularly good light today from this ridge as you can see here. This is for those of you who really love mountain views.

Thank you very much for all of you who sent yesterday's bales of hay to the spotlight.
