Birch Wood during Storm Éowyn
A very stormy day. It starts windy, then gets windier as the full force of the storm arrives at 9am. Rain is very horizontal. Quiet day at work. Every shop is shut in Edinburgh, public transport started shutting down from 8am, so twin 1 doesn't have to go in to work. The red warning means everyone stays home. No walk at lunchtime as the storm is at its height. I do 30 minutes on the exercise bike.
Afternoon is quiet at work. After work, there is no walk to the café for Friday afternoon coffee and cake as all the cafés are shut. The rain eases about 3:15, as do the grey clouds. I go for a wee walk around the park, avoiding trees as much as possible. In the photo, the birch trees are leaning to the left. The gusts of wind are not as strong as the morning, just an occasional strong gust. Dog walkers are also taking this opportunity to head out. I do a wee loop, looking at the paths, it looks like the storm has done its worst. I head home for coffee and no cake.
