Grumpy Old Man

Free shower!

It was quite a surprise to find the Amber weather warning upgraded to red for this part of Scotland, beginning at 10am today. It was getting windy an hour before that but I nipped down town in the car to buy a paper and to see what was happening along the seafront. It was pretty wild and I took about 75 pictures hoping to get one or two good ones!

High tide was around 1.45 so I rather stupidly drove down again for more pictures. I found myself driving along the seafront bumping over piles of seaweed and being covered with seawater every ten seconds. I had no choice but to carry on, and eventually drove all the way down to Ganavan beach, the second of my extras today.

On the way back I stopped by the Corran Halls where I could open the car window for a pictures without getting soaked - my Blip today. The first extra was taken from the North Pier overlooking the pontoons - they were heaving and jumping about! Quite a scene.

To make matters worse, the power went off at 4pm and with it any mobile signal and radio. No gas cooker, no central heating, no nuffink! Just as well we had a camping stove so MrsM managed to cook mince and tatties for dinner, but after trying to read a book with a torch later on I got fed up and went to bed at 8.30!
