The Slipped Slate

I remained indoors all of yesterday, although I was able to see most of The Policies from our various first floor windows.

This morning I ventured out to see any damage firsthand. I discovered a slipped slate which is just about in the thumbnail.

There were a few twigs lying about and the outer petrol cap on the car had blown open to reveal the inner locking cap just as it should be.

Apart from an overturned wheelie bin used for recycling paper had blown over, but all of the paper remained inside.

The neighbour’s drying whirlie has been wrenched out of the ground (see extra), but nothing else.

I gave him the report and photo. No doubt his gardener will fix it for him.

As far as ‘The Policies’ are concerned all of the fallen leaves have neatly blown from the grass into tidy piles.

I know that our property has been remarkably lucky and no trees have been blown down as happened during the last named storm.

Hill of Tarvit has suffered significant tree loss. Removing the timber will take some time, however it will be recycled.

There seems to be this idea that trees should last forever. Trees do have lifespans and, in our own situation Oaks will last about two hundred years.  We are now nearing the end of their lives. We have them routinely examined by a Tree Surgeon. We have also replaced trees with others.
