ANTHURIUM
Well Storm Eowyn turned up and did its worst. In this area we have had power cuts, damage to buildings, road closures, trees down.... and more. But thankfully no reports of anyone being seriously hurt so that's one good thing.
The barriers I blipped on Wednesday have been blown all over the place... some of them ended up on my drive - but a neighbour came over and moved them. I expect none of the many barriers put up by Northumbria Water in the nearby streets are still in place.
All Ok here apart from one ridge tile which came loose and is now stuck half way down the roof at the front. My neighbour Laura took a photo and sent it to me this morning via WhatsApp ( see Extra ) and told me to be careful. Good job she did as I haven't been outside so I didn't know it had happened. Getting my gutters cleaned and repaired has been on my " to do list " so I messaged a local chap about the gutters and also mentioned the ridge tile. He said that both were something he could sort out ... so he's coming on Sunday to take a look. So at least the ridge tile problem has prompted me to put in motion getting the gutters sorted.
Ive had a quiet and cosy day indoors. Watched a lot of TV and did some ironing.
The wind seemed to have an adverse effect on Tino this morning and early afternoon - when it was at its worst.. He was very unsettled and more " yowly " than usual. I think he must have worn himself out as he has been asleep all afternoon and most of this evening.
Its much calmer now and hopefully it will be OK tomorrow so I can have a wander down to the village.
Not much choice for a flower blip. The carnations Becky sent for Christmas are way past their best but they were almost my blip until I spotted this solitary Anthrium. Thanks to BikerBear for hosting Flower Friday.
