Grey day

As I woke up this morning with a sore throat, a headache, and a sneezing fit, I've been staying even closer to home today. I did venture out shopping for a few bits and bobs, but I haven't been tempted to go for a walk.

Thrill of the day: when I was in Grand Frais the other day, I noticed they had some tofu, so I bought a slab. Although I was a vegetarian for quite a few years and still eat vegetarian food often, I rarely eat tofu and have never cooked it myself. I had to google how to do it. Who knew you have to press it first? (probably everyone reading this).

I found a recipe for sweet and sour tofu and had almost all the ingredients, including an ancient tin of pineapple. I was well chuffed with it, even though the gas bottle ran out just as I tossed the marinated tofu cubes into the hot oil ... luckily our hob has an electric ring as well. The tofu was crispy and the sweet and sour sauce delicious -- a real time warp to 1970s Chinese takeaways.

Apart from that I've been dosing myself on lemon and ginger tea and reading ...
