Before the storm

This morning has been still and misty, although not incredibly cold.  The birds have seemed quite happy with it, and there's some courting behaviour going on amongst some of them.  The magpies have been busy gathering twigs already.  I hope that they have been building their future nest well and in a sheltered spot. as apparently we're in for some pretty rough weather as the weekend approaches.  It is the continuation of the cold weather affecting the USA which will reach the UK in the form of a deep low and possible 90mph winds.

In the meantime, while things are more sedate, here's a shot of a blue tit working its way through a mossy branch in search of things to eat.
