Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Two walks today, and a brief kerfuffle with sisters who forgot to be polite regarding texts on this day with its big mistake of a big deal.
On the first walk, we picked up trash along the trail as a way to do some good. On the second walk, we walked along the path at Smith and Bybee Lakes in the hopes of spotting a kinglet (as Di had done the day before). And we did! We saw a few; this one would not fly away as if to say, “I’m eating here!” If I were just a bit swifter, I’m sure I could have picked it up. Him up. Her up. Them up. I think the whole pronoun thing is partly what caused so many to just not want to deal with the very real issues of identity and rights and their discomfort with it - and voted to hope it goes away.
That bird was so darn cute.
