Different Titmouse, Different Day.
We awoke this morning to 11 F with about 4 inches of powdery snow on the ground under sunny skies. Hubs took care of all the snow removal - even beating me to shoveling a patch across the deck and to the feeders. Because the snow was so light and fluffy, shoveling and blowing wasn't the chore it sometimes is. I decided try for some flight shots against snowy backgrounds so scattered some seeds in various areas where I thought the light/backgrounds would be good and set the camera to 20 frames per second. While not perfect, I like this shot as it shows the wings almost fully extended with the light shining through. Mission accomplished - and now I am back inside warming myself near the fire.
I've completely avoided the spectacle in Washington DC - no interest in seeing or hearing any of it, honestly. Although I am curious as to what time today the war in Ukraine will be ending...
We are bracing for a "polar vortex" this week with nighttime temps in the single digit and days only in the teens. Things will start to warm slightly on Thursday. This means, of course, that Jax will not be going on any walks. Last night we let him shred an Amazon delivery box which took him about 20 minutes and seemed to burn off some excess energy. Maybe later today I will hide some scent tins around the basement for him to find. The delivery of his new winter coat has been delayed and will hopefully be here tomorrow.
Cheers!
