Do I do anything other than football-related thing

Up with the lark. A 5.45am start to get Ottawacker Jr. to his football in time for a warm up and a 7am kick off. I’ve railed about these 7am kick offs in the past and, as I am sure you will be expecting, I shall do so again. Seriously though, who in their right mind schedules a match at 7am?

Ottawacker Jr. did pretty well, made a number of good saves but one significant error: trying to let a ball direct from a throw in enter the net without touching it (throw ins are kicked in in this indoor league), he misjudged the speed of the ball and couldn’t get his foot out of the way quickly enough. That was the equaliser for 1-1. He did very well to not let that affect his game though – and was more dominant in this fixture against OSU Blue 2 U14s. He’s not as confident as with the U13s – but that is a matter of time, I think, and the fact the kids are 2 years older than he – but it is improving.

Home after the game to watch Liverpool play Brentford away. It was a very good game – and Liverpool played very well. However, we left it late and had to rely on two Darwin Nuñez injury time goals to get the three points. Those late, late winners are amazing, though – and I imagine the trip back to Liverpool was quite cheerful on the coach afterwards.

In the afternoon, we had Ottawacker Jr.’s birthday “party”. He wanted the same thing as last year, i.e., a two-hour slot at Di Salvo’s sports where he could play football with some of his friends. There were nine of them in all – and so we did a 3 vs. 3 competition (with prizes for the three winners), and a penalty shoot out at the end. It all went very well, and they managed to drain themselves completely by the time we wandered over the road to O’Brien’s pub for wings and pizza. I think people enjoyed it. I did.

Mitch popped over towards the end of the Di Salvo jamboree and came with us for a beer and some wings, before coming back for a nightcap. I think I fell asleep in the chair at one point (hey, at my age…) but either nobody noticed or they were glad the constant stream of shite being spouted had come to an end.
