Gulls

Yesterday evening turned out to be an expensive time…Mrs madwill had taken the ‘big car’ (Sharan) with all her stuff to her weekend retreat…but when she came to set off home it would not start. AA diagnosed a dead battery…not just flat, but dead!! So we had to have a new one…£250 thank you very much! It was the original battery .. so 8 years old…and it hasn’t had regular charging for the last couple of years…it often sits for months on the driveway..I have occasionally used a portable charger to top it up, but I suspect that that is not the same as when being driven.

I walked in to Wetherby this morning..about 4.5 miles…to get a few bits from the supermarket.

While I was in town I wandered down to the riverside…lots of ducks and gulls waiting to be fed…as soon as I appeared a mob descended to where I was standing. I didn’t have anything for them!

I managed to snap these two characters …I think they are black headed gulls…bizarrely not black at the moment (?winter plumage). The one at the front I think is a non breeding adult, (red legs and beak) and the other (orange legs and beak) is an ‘immature’ - not a juvenile, but not yet an adult!!

Added an extra showing some of the detritus that has collected after recent flooding! The water can rise above these benches and into the carpark (top left in the image)
