North coast cliff
We went on a day trip today across the island to the north coast and we were extremely fortunate with the weather which was windy but warm! In the extras I have put the first stop where we saw the breakers with sea spray forming and the driver said he had not seen for a long while! The prevailing wind is from the North east and todays was from the south west, increasing tomorrow with rain! We were then taken to lourenzo’s favourite place which was a cafe on the coast next to the cliff in the main picture and we had coffee there. They had cleared the land below the terrace and had a beautiful green sward! There is a picture of the iPad map with which I followed the journey!
We were offered the opportunity to have lunch in a restaurant where they do a three course lunch with wine or beer and coffee after for 19 euros which was extremely good value. They had skewers for meat which were set up on hangers by the table accompanied by green salad, chips and rice. The starter was soup with garlic bread and the sweet was a dense mousse, either coffee, mango or passionfruit. We all said yes, all being just six of us on the trip. The two panorama shots were taken when we stopped to get a 360 view of what life on Madeira was like. What took us one hour to the first stop would have taken half a day not too long ago! The statue of Christ the redeemer was on Madeira before the one in Rio, is their proud boast! It was an exceptionally good tour!
