Levada day!

Today was the day for walking by the Levada, a watercourse delivering much needed water from north to south! There are many of them and we chose one we could walk to from the villa! I really wanted to do this and yet I am such a wuss when I have to negotiate narrow paths between a drop and a watercourse! Most of the path was as you see it in the blip but we had to go through a tunnel at one stage and then there were places when I had to go over a gap, not large, but large enough! And some stretches of very uneven ground with no place to hold onto! I really needed poles but didn’t have any! We did 11,800 steps there and back and did 8.3 kilometres! Not very far in the scheme of things. We were out for about 4 hours all told!

So glad I did it but it was not all fun and at the end my balance was beginning to go which was freaky! Went for a swim in the open air pool and enjoyed a hot shower at home!
