Not Quite Enough

We’ve had a chilly wet day. The rain is changing over to all snow as the temps get colder but we are not expecting any accumulation. Our highs for the week ahead are forecast to be in the 20°sF and low 30°sF, with temps in the teens at night. Brrrr. We did a few odd jobs this morning until time to go to Brooklyn’s basketball game. Things looked good until the other team scored a 3-pointer and they went ahead. Try as we might, we couldn’t regain the lead. Brooklyn scored a foul shot to get us within two points but that was it. The other team had a great defense and were very successful keeping our girls away from the basket. Brooklyn had a fall early in the game and injured her knee again. She pushed through the whole game but you could see it was a struggle. I was pleased to see that Brooklyn led her teammates to shake hands with the winning team as soon as the game ended. She is team captain and a good leader. We visited my mother after the game. She fell earlier this week. Her left knee was a bit swollen and had an abrasion. We cautioned her about the need to use her cane or walker. She is stubborn and doesn’t want to appear decrepit. She was happy with our visit and especially pleased with the peppermint bark treat we gave her. From there, we stopped at the local market who was recently named the best place to buy fried chicken in the county. We aren’t up that way often so this was a real treat. We will enjoy it during the inauguration festivities. Hubby took me to the grocery store. Jamie asked if we could find a Boston Cream Pie or eclairs for their dessert tonight. Today is the anniversary of his FIL’s passing and those desserts were his favorite. We could only find mini eclairs so Parker will shop at other locations rather than have us out in this weather. He spent his day moving household goods into a U-Haul for some lady. His good reputation is keeping him busy. Kristen is feeling better. My sister couldn’t visit Momma with us because she had a nasty headache, very unusual for her. I think this cold front is the culprit. Will be happy to see this crew at 100% again. We stopped to get our dinner from Renee. She tried something new: chicken enchilada lasagna. Sounds interesting. We are in for the night. Wishing you the ability to stay out of any nasty weather at your end. Stay safe. Thanks for your visits, stars, hearts and kind comments lately. “How a man (girl) plays the game shows something of his (her) character; how he (she) loses shows all of it”. – Frosty Westering
